10 Yetis Insight - My three months as a Yeti - Billy Ward

So what began as a week long intern position at 10 Yetis Digital, turned into a position lasting for 12 weeks. I came into the company and hit the floor running, my first task was to write up the transcripts for what seemed like A LOT of Chinese cooking videos. When you include the transcript of the video, it helps the SEO of the video, which (in theory) means more views and bigger impact, - I was already learning a lot, and not just about delicious Chinese cooking.

As time went on, I was given different tasks and blog writing became a big part of my job. Whether for Superdry, Lee Kum Kee, BAM, the 10 Yetis Digital blog or another one of our clients, each required a different tone of voice and brought different challenges.

Over my time here, I’ve learnt more about Oyster Sauce and more about concussion rates then I ever anticipated I would! Working with a company who is able to adapt to what ever the client’s needs are is something that was hugely impressive to witness, and gave me a chance to learn a little bit about how the team at 10 Yetis Digital can work with any industry.

Before working with the company I didn’t think I would ever work in social media, I’ve always tweeted, but there is so much more to it than just that. Writing content plans out for our clients is pretty hard when they are all so different and it’s important to research the content, from IBS for our healthcare client, Chinese Valentines Days for our Chinese food client, to a skate park for Superdry!

The office environment is an interesting one; really fun, and really friendly. I have learnt more about the female anatomy that I ever wish to have known. If I ever hear the words ‘moon’ and ‘cup’ again….

Writing the social media round up is something I’ve particularly enjoyed, it’s allowed me to be a little sassy and informative. The social media world changes so much and each week I would write up a blog on these latest developments. Keeping up-to-date with these changes is something that 10 Yetis Digital consider really important.

Moving on, I am off to London to work in the events industry, predominately in the operations world. Though no longer working with 10 Yetis Digital, I will take many of the lessons that I’ve learnt into every position I take in the future.

I’ve loved working with 10 Yetis Digital; they are really great people and I wish them all the best.
