High street retailer HMV is to roll out a series of ‘pop up’ shops, creating new jobs, in today’s good PR.
The first of the music retailer’s “techshops” will open near St Paul’s in London, selling high-end technology, including iPads, iPods, and other gadgets in time for the Christmas rush. The store will sell a small range of chart CDs and DVDs.
A spokesperson for HMV said that if the store was a success, then it could be extended to more locations around the UK.
Outspoken former Oasis member Liam Gallagher has caused controversy after he made a quip about the mental health of fellow rocker Adam Ant.
The pair have been engaged in a public feud since one of Gallagher’s Beady Eye band mates, Andy Bell, recorded a track on Ant’s forthcoming album. Gallagher said that Ant was “nutty” in an interview with NME.
Ant, who has had bipolar disorder since his early 20s, has been open about his history with mental health problems, after an interview last year.
A spokesperson for mental health charity Mind made the following statement: “It’s not helpful for people brave enough to be open [about mental illness] to be met with name calling. Many celebrities, such as Adam Ant, have spoken out about their mental health problems and we are so grateful that they do.”
