Here are today's examples of good and bad PR. Enjoy...

Public Relations

Good PR

Who would have thought we’d be posting about the success of the all-in-one pyjama craze?!

Yes, that’s right, it has been reported today that onesies were the big winners in terms of sales over the festive period. The nightwear may have upset many fashionistas but they were one of the few successes this Christmas.

Debenhams said yesterday they sold out of the comfy nightwear, whilst M&S sold two kids’ onesies every minute and Asda shifted more than one million! So tonight, when you get in from work and don your onesie attire, feel safe in the knowledge that you’re not alone in kicking back with your lounge-wear.

Bad PR

The Sun reported some very bad news for social workers today – which the authorities even tried to prevent being exposed.

It has been reported that a little girl was left in foster care with a man accused of downloading child abuse images. The girl, aged just 4, had been living with her carer for three months before the police informed social services of the offences conducted in 2010.

Social workers in Bristol then waited six days to decide what to do and a further week before finally removing the girl and another child. The authorities tried to suppress this story, knowing the damming affect it would have on the reputation of the service, and following a two-month legal battle, the gagging order was finally overturned.
