10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad Public Relations - Monday 20th February 2012

Feb 20th 2012

Hello,

Shaun here with today's 10 Yetis Good & Bad PR awards.

Good PR

Today's 10 Yetis Good PR award goes to the queen of fashion herself, Dame Vivienne Westwood.
Dame Westwood has controversially spoken out, at launch of her Red Label collection at London Fashion Week, saying that the 'modern day was the worst period for style yet'.

She claims that 'In history people dressed much better than we do today. If you saw Queen Elizabeth it would be amazing, she came from another planet. She was so attractive in what she was wearing.'

Ok so you might be thinking how it this good PR ? Well Dame Westwood is at the forefront of British fashion and she is passionate about 'campaigning against, consumers today that rely 'on 'fast' or 'disposable' fashion - meaning individuals were buying quantity over quality'.

I know that not everyone has the budget to go and buy Vivienne Westwood (myself included) but I think people should be inspired by what she is saying. Why not take yourself off to your local vintage clothing shop, charity shop or even on-line to find something that represents you, and makes you stand out from the crowd!

Bad PR

With only 158 days to go till the reports have announced that the Olympic committee have made the decision that spectators are going to be charged £10 just to sit in Olympic Park and watch the action on a big screen. The decisions means 1000's of spectators will be charged to watch the Olympics on giant screens.

The decision to charge for entry to the Olympic Park has proved controversial, especially after the taxpayer has footed the £7.25billion bill to pay for the site.

These report have emerged just days after it was announced spectators will have to pay to watch road cycling on Box Hill. Also in Weymouth, Dorset, Olympic officials will fence off part of the coastline to stop those without sailing tickets from watching.
