10 Yetis Work Experience Blog by Jess Morris

The sun certainly isn't shining at Yeti Towers today as we bid farewell to the lovely Jess, our Work Experience Yeti. Jess has been here for two weeks and has certainly been a pleasure to work with. She is extremely hard working and creative and fast became a member of the team.

Jess has chatted about her time here at 10 Yetis just below.

Spending two weeks working voluntarily at 10 Yetis has been enormously beneficial and I have enjoyed myself immensely. I honestly wish I could stay longer!

I found immediately that the 10 Yetis team were extremely welcoming. I was able to observe daily routine in the office and become familiar with the energetic PR environment. By being given little tasks to complete each day I found myself becoming more confident learning about PR and expanding my current media knowledge. I enjoyed researching and writing about good and bad PR and creating different angles when coming up with an idea for a press release.

During my two weeks here, I have been picking up skills from the team such as telephone mannerisms with clients, the implication of time management and the importance of a healthy relationship between team members. I have also been made more aware of the successful use of Twitter as a professional resource.

Rather than learning in a classroom, I have learnt much more spending a day in a productive environment and being given opportunities to write press releases independently and be involved in group meetings and discussions. It has given me a taste of what the PR world involves and what skills I personally require to be successful within PR. I would recommend work experience at 10 Yetis to anyone who wishes to gain knowledge of PR or wants to learn more about the social media. (Just don't leave your bag on the floor otherwise Hugo WILL eat it!)
