10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad Public Relations- Friday 1st June 2012

Jun 1st 2012

Hello Good and Bad PR fans and happy June! Emma here with some juicy PR examples, both good and bad. Have a lovely Jubilee weekend!

Good PR
Today I have to give the good PR nod to Martin Lewis, who has just sold his site MoneySavingExpert.com for a whopping £87m to MoneySupermarket.com.

As owner of the site, this has given Martin an impressive £35m in cash, and intends to give £10m to charity. He will retain his position as editor-in-chief of the site, whilst MoneySupermarket have explained that they will keep its 'editorial independence.'
This is a whopping great amount of money, and a huge testament to just how popular the site is. Massively good PR for the site and Martin himself- who may already be on the champers this morning.

public relations

"What's that? You want to hear the story of how I made my millions? Ok, I'll tell you.."

Bad PR
Oh Melanie Sykes, what the **** are you doing? Today's Bad PR has to go to ex-Boddington's pin-up Melanie, who has caused a bit of a stir in the press for her somewhat inappropriate conversations with her current beau on Twitter.

Having met on the social networking site, Melanie (41) and toy-boy Jack Cockings (26) have bemused the press with their overtly sexual discussions on Twitter- publicly messaging each other with so-say 'racy' messages that were very public to see. Whilst most are a little too cheeky to put on here (I don't want to offend your delicate eyes) tweets have including Melanie saying that she has "the giddiest knickers of her life" and this classic: 'Jack the rabbit I need some bunny love so hop to it!! Xxx boing boing!!! Loooooool xxxxxxx'.

What this mother of two thinks she's up to saying things like this so publicly is anyone's guess, but it certainly hasn't given her great PR. Whilst we would never judge, the simple phrase of 'getting a room' does spring to mind. Ahem.
