10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad Public Relations- Wednesday 6th June 2012

Jun 6th 2012

Hey guys, Alexa here. Hope your long weekend was fabulous. Here's today's good and bad PR.

Good PR

Hats - or should I say headpieces - off to the Queen for good PR during the Jubilee this last weekend. Bank holiday lie-ins can only make you love her majesty even more as you swagger around the living room in a onesie (just me?) and the press have gone wild for her and all the Royals this weekend.

Even if you're not a fan of monarchy, a party's a party and the night you walked around town in a Union Jack morphsuit will forever be associated with Her Majesty. A strong boost to the entertainment and hospitality industry, so even those who were working can feel pretty chuffed with themselves. The Queen was reported to be "humbled" by the numerous events in her name, and the press couldn't get enough of all the goings on around the country. Bravo everyone- a royally good knees up all weekend.

Bad PR

...Which is why today's bad PR is 'hijacked' by singer Will.i.am, who has been accused of 'hijacking' the British affair by tweeting pictures of himself with the likes of Prince William, Elton and Paul McCartney. He apparently "shamelessly" tweeted throughout the Jubilee concert and even had the audacity to call himself Brit.i.am. He wishes.

The press were unimpressed all round by his version of the London Guard uniform, with many seeing it as bordering on parody rather than respect. The dodgy online and offline spectacle fuelled negative tweets about his performance too.
