10 Yetis Examles of Good and Bad PR - Thursday, July 5th 2012

Jul 5th 2012

Today's example of good and bad PR has been written by our lovely work experience student from Rednock School, Amber.

Good PR:

Today's example of good PR is twitter, after news websites are reporting on a story that will make your tail wag. The social networking site is usually used for tweeting, but a train company transformed their tweet into a 'bark' as they posted a picture of a dog that they had found.

The dog's owner had seen this picture on twitter and at first thought she was barking mad, however since she saw the tweet they have been reunited. This is good PR as although many people probably already have twitter it may encourage them to tweet things they have found in order to reunite them back to where they belong. (I apologise for all the bad puns!)

Bad PR:

The bad PR is awarded to the Freeview box. It seems the services is taking a beating in the media after the battle between it and Sir Alan Sugar's new rival product called the YouView heats up. YouView provides all the basic channels on catch up such as BBC, ITV and channel 4 this mean that there will no longer be the need for the Freeview box as the YouView is much more effective.

To really stick the knife in, Sir Alan claims that Freeview just isn't good enough and his new box is the only one you'll need. It looks like it's the end of the line for Freeview however with a retail price of £299, will YOU view Sir Alan's new product?
