10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad Public Relations - Thursday 30th of August

Aug 30th 2012

Good PR

The Good PR award of the day goes to Channel 4 who yesterday gathered 11.2 million viewers in front of their TVs for the Paralympics opening ceremony; Channel 4's biggest audience in ten years.

Even though some viewers were complaining about the repetitive adverts on Channel 4 that ' ruined' the athlete's parades, Channel 4 still managed to reach an incredible audience. Back in 2008, the Beijing Paralympics were only watched by 2.8 million Brits.

Well done Channel 4 and well done to all the athletes that have made the opening ceremony so special. You've made us (yes, even us non-Brits!) proud. Good luck!

Bad PR

I'm going to have to disappoint one of Lindsay Lohan's biggest fans in the whole world (Iona) by giving her today's bad PR award, after Los Angeles premiere celebrity hotel, the Chateau Marmont, expressed their disappointment with the American actress when their letter about an unpaid bill of $46,000 was leaked to the media.

The management of the hotel prides itself on placing their guests' privacy as a core value of their management policy and were left horrified and hugely disappointed by the leak, which detailed Lindsay's mini bar charges, cigarette purchases and restaurant bills.

Following the incident, Lindsay Lohan was asked to leave the premises and informed by the manager of the hotel that she would no longer be welcome in the luxury celebrity hotspot.
