10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad Public Relations - Thursday 20th September 2012

Sep 20th 2012

Hi everyone, Helen here, with today's Good and Bad PR.

Good PR

Today's Good PR is for Blackpool, it's turned its eccentricities into a TV show. The TOWIE/Made in Chelsea/Geordie shore style show called 'Blackpool Lights' will be aired on Channel 5. The most interesting character which has been announced so far is bingo boss Alan Haworth, who wants to conquer a fear of flying so he can visit his internet girlfriend. These programmes have proven to be popular and I'm sure this one will be no different. Whatever the outcome, it is sure to boost the tourism of Blackpool. With Wales' version The Valleys starting on MTV next week, it makes me wonder, which city will be next?

Bad PR

Ignoring the whole topless photo debacle with the Duchess of Cambridge, Star Magazine from the U.S. have decided to go another route by announcing that she is pregnant with twins. Now, celebrity magazines aren't well known for their intensely researched and backed-up stories, but Star has just upped it a notched. They have actually photoshopped a bump onto Kate's stomach. She must definitely be pregnant if they've stitched it on themselves. If Star readers believed their stories before, well, this probably won't change anything.
