10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad Public Relations- Friday 21st September 2012

Sep 21st 2012

Emma here with today's Good and Bad PR injection before the weekend strikes. Have a good one!

Good PR
I have no idea who to give Good PR to today, as nothing has happened of note, particularly in the technology world.

LOL ONLY JKING OMG!

I have to give Good PR today to the world's consumer technology company du jour, Apple, for the release of their iPhone 5. Much anticipated by Smartphone fans the world over, particularly given the release of specs last week, the iPhone 5 has had the general public and media world in a frenzy this morning. Die hard fans have queued overnight to get their hands on the new phone, and the media have had to camp with them to get the pics. So their effort isn't in vain, I can't ignore Apple for today's Good PR accolade, so bravo them!

(on another note, they've had some pretty bad press for a problem with iOS 6 mapping- but we'll sweep that one under the carpet today)

public relations

He just LOVES his iPhone 5. And who can blame him.

Bad PR
Paris Hilton is today's winner of Bad PR, for making an incredibly ignorant comment, and getting a whole host of negative press as a result (unsurprisingly).

Hilton reportedly has been caught on tape making derogatory comments about gay men. Speaking to a friend in a taxi about the application Grindr, she apparently expressed her disgust at the app, stating: 'Ewww. Eww. To get f***ed? Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS... I would be so scared if I were a gay guy."

Unsurprisingly, the comments she made on camera have made their way to the press, and she's now getting a huge amount of negative press for her ignorant, and derogatory, comments towards homosexuals. She claims they were taken 'out of context', but out of context or not, she can't escape from today's Bad PR prize.
