Online Takeaway Giant Celebrates Third Birthday
Just-Eat, the UK's most successful online takeaway ordering portal, blows out the candles in celebration of its third birthday this week, having serviced more than 7 million meal orders in that time.
The recession has famously driven people away from luxuries, but takeaways seem to defy the downturn, which has only meant good things for local restaurants that deliver.
www.Just-Eat.co.uk are the UK's leading takeaway portal, where users find local restaurants and perform the whole ordering process; down to choosing what sauce you'd like with your order, online. The site launched in March of 2006.
The site, which has serviced more than 7 million meal orders since launch has teamed up with in excess of 2200 UK restaurants in just three short years. In that time, it has been giving people a convenient way to order their favourite cuisine, relying on Just-Eat's unique method of seamlessly transmitting order details from the time and point of order to the restaurant, using the JCT wireless terminals installed in every linked restaurant.
Throughout the snow of early February, Just-Eat noticed huge and unexpected sales in the face of a despondent and affected country, with Valentine's Day proving to be the busiest day the site had ever seen, proving that the recession hasn't quelled the UK's love for a good takeaway.
David Buttress, CEO of Just-Eat.co.uk said,
"We're still in relative infancy, but we're dealing with an average of 30,000 meal orders on a daily basis, feeding Britain's appetite for affordable and convenient food from local restaurants who otherwise may not have received the order.
"Our third birthday is a huge milestone for everyone involved behind the scenes at Just-Eat.co.uk, including the local restaurants we are teamed with, who benefit massively from having a web-savvy new range of customers to deliver to, helping them compete with larger brands with millions to spend on marketing and innovation.
"The internet really has changed the way people live their lives, and we are proud that our service has cemented itself as the number 1 site people think about when they are feeling peckish!"
The site remembers delivery details and your favourite takeaways, meaning that repeat visits are a simple and pain free experience. It also gives automatic confirmation of orders and delivery times and has more than 45,000 customer reviews for hungry users to find the right meal for them.
