One In Ten Britons Have Already Finished Their Christmas Shopping
New research from one of the UK’s leading discount websites has revealed that 11% of British shoppers have already completed their Christmas shopping; whilst a third of those polled claim to have started shopping for the festive season.
It would seem that people are getting prepared for this year’s festive season already, as a new study from the UK’s leading discount website has found that a third, 36% of Brits have admitted that they have already started their Christmas shopping; whilst and an eager 11% have already completed theirs.
www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk polled a total of 1,907 people in order to try and find out people’s views on Christmas shopping, given the site’s focus on saving consumers money.
Respondents were initially asked if they had started their Christmas shopping, to which 36% said ‘yes’. Furthermore, 11% of respondents claimed that they had already finished buying all of their Christmas presents, meaning that they were already fully prepared in the gift department.
When asked why they had chosen to do their Christmas shopping so early, the majority, 61% of those that have started said that it was because they thought they could save money by shopping earlier on in the year.
Of those who said that they hadn’t started buying for Christmas, 34% explained that they wouldn’t start shopping until December, whilst the majority, 47%, said they would start their Christmas shopping in November.
Furthermore, 23% of those polled said that they hadn’t started their shopping because they thought that their friends/ family might ‘change their mind about what they want’, whilst 58% said that they simply ‘couldn’t be bothered’ to start their shopping just yet.
Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, had the following to say about the results:
It’s amazing to find out how many people are so prepared for Christmas already! I think many people put off doing their Christmas shopping for as long as possible, just because it is such a big effort. It’s easy to forget that you have to buy food and drink for the festive period as well as presents, so it can get very pricey.
He continued:
“It is a lot easier to spread out your payments for Christmas presents over a longer period of time, just so you’re not paying a lot of money. However, if you do end up leaving it to the last minute and you’re looking for ways to save money on gifts this Christmas, be sure to check out MyVoucherCodes.co.uk for some great deals.”
