Over Half Of Young Women Turn To Fashion Blogs For Inspiration
New research from the UK’s leading independent celebrity fashion website has revealed that the majority of young women are turning to the online blogging community when looking out for fashion trends and inspiration; with the majority of these claiming to ‘copy’ the style of their favourite bloggers.
With the online blogging community ever-growing, a new study has revealed the influence that bloggers within the fashion sphere have with young women; with over half of women aged 18-25 claiming to check online fashion blogs for style inspiration.
The study was conducted by newly re-launched fashion site www.MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, which aimed to find out more about young women’s attitudes towards fashion trends and how they look for fashion inspiration.
The study polled 1,255 women aged 18- 25 across the UK, and asked respondents ‘What online resources do you use when looking for fashion trends and inspiration?’ The respondents were then asked to choose from a list of possible answers, to which the top resources used were as follows:
1. Online Magazines/ News Outlets 62%
2. Fashion Blogs 57%
3. Facebook 38%
4. Pinterest 29%
5. Twitter 18%
Two thirds, 67%, of those who stated that they turned to fashion bloggers for inspiration claimed to ‘copy’ styles showcased by their favourite bloggers; whilst the majority, 53%, claimed to check fashion blogs online ‘several times per week.’
When asked, ‘Have you ever considered starting your own fashion blog?’ two fifths, 41%, of the young women taking part said “yes”. Furthermore, 16% of those taking part in the study had their own blog that they updated ‘regularly.’
Speaking about the results, Bobbie Malpass, Editor at MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk, commented:
The internet has considerably changed the way that trends are communicated, and bloggers in particular are now playing a huge role in the online fashion space. The great thing about blogs is the fact that anyone can write about fashion if they want to, and sharing your own style is easier than ever. To see that so many young women look to blogs for inspiration is really interesting, and the likes of Pinterest have made it so much easier for people to find quirky styles and trinkets that make any outfit unique.
She continued:
“Our new ‘Blogger of the Week’ section aims to put bloggers in the spotlight, given their huge role within the online fashion community. I personally like to use every kind of resource when looking for fashion inspiration; an eclectic mix of resources can give you some great outfit ideas, and will certainly help you add a personal twist to anything you wear.”
