Quarter Of Americans Have All Their Money Spoken For Each Month
New research from one of the USA’s leading coupon code websites reveals that a quarter of Americans have all of their money spoken for when they are paid each month, leaving nothing to spare for other purchases or social spending.
A poll from one of the leading coupon code websites in the USA has looked into the financial situations of members of the public and found that 24% of respondents claimed to have all their money spoken for each month; meaning their income matched their outgoings.
www.CouponCodes4u.com carried out the poll as part of research into the spending habits of Americans and what their general financial situations were like. 2,589 employed people from across the USA were subsequently polled and were asked questions about their earnings and how they were spent.
Respondents were initially asked to assess their financial situation from a list of possible answers and, according to the poll, the results were as follows:
- Very good 6%
- Good 23%
- Average 26%
- Bad 33%
- Very bad 12%
Those polled were then asked ‘When you are paid each month, how much money do you have left after your outgoings?’ 24% said all of their money was ‘spoken for’ each month, meaning that they had nothing extra to spend after bills and other household outgoings.
Furthermore, a third, 34% of respondents said that they didn’t have enough money each month to meet their outgoings, meaning that they were in the red even when they had been paid. 29% said that they had ‘about 10%’ of their outgoings left each month, whilst 11% said they had ‘a third or more’ of their wages left.
Those who rated their current financial situation as either ‘bad’ or ‘very bad’ were further questioned by CouponCodes4u.com to find out how this impacted on their day-to-day lives. When asked, ‘Does your current financial situation often prevent you from doing certain everyday things, such as food shopping and buying gas?’ 48% answered ‘yes’. Despite this, 71% were yet to seek help to get their finances under control.
Mark Pearson, chairman of CouponCodes4u.com, commented on the findings:
It’s very shocking to see how many people are yet to get their finances under control. In a time where prices are rising, I can’t believe so many people still haven’t sorted out their finances.
He continued:
“Even if you do have all of your money spoken for, there are still ways to make savings. Using coupons and discounts like those available at CouponCodes4u.com can really make a difference. It can be especially hard if you’re just starting out on your own, trying to get a foot on the ladder. Try to get out and enjoy yourself at least once a month, as it can make a real difference; and remember, it doesn’t have to be expensive!”
