Three Quarters Of Women Use 'out Of Date' Beauty Products S Release Title
In a bid to discover more about the beauty habits of British women, the UK’s leading discount website asked over 1,000 women if they use out of date beauty products, and if so, which ‘gone-off’ products they used the most.
As part of ongoing research into the beauty habits of British women, the UK’s leading discount website, http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, has conducted a study of 1,183 women aged 18 and over, in a bid to discover how they maintain their beauty products.
The study, conducted by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, initially asked the respondents ‘Do you knowingly use out of date beauty products?’ to which almost three quarters, 73%, answered ‘Yes’. Subsequently, these respondents were asked to estimate the age of the oldest product in their beauty regime. According to the results, two thirds, 67%, of respondents answered ’24 months’.
Furthermore, the women who admitted to using ‘out of date products’ were asked which products they specifically used that were out of date, from a possible list of beauty items. Respondents were able to choose more than one product, with the top ten results as follows:
- Mascara – 71% (of the respondents who said they used out of date beauty products used out of date mascara)
- Eye-liner – 67%
- Nail Varnish – 61%
- Blusher – 58%
- Perfume – 54%
- Lipstick – 49%
- Moisturiser – 45%
- Eye shadow – 41%
- Concealer – 37%
- Compact powder – 34%
The respondents who admitted to using out of date beauty products were asked why they did so. Two fifths, 41%, of the women taking part stated that is was due to the ‘expense’ of replacing the product; whilst 23% said that they felt expiration dates on beauty products were ‘false.’
When asked by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk if they had experienced any ‘repercussions’ from using out of date beauty products, only 4% said that they had. When these respondents were then asked to explain further, one respondent said they experienced an ‘eye infection’ from out of date mascara.
Mark Pearson, Chairman o fhttp://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, said the following about the findings:
It is interesting to see that so many women use beauty products that have gone out of date, however, it is understandable as many of the items on the list wouldn’t be cheap to replace. It must be frustrating to have to replace a product that is regularly used and hasn’t actually run-out; something that goes for toiletries for men and women alike.
He continued,
“Of course, expiration dates are there for a reason, and should be abided as many products can have adverse reactions if they have passed their expiration. However, replacing them needn’t be too expensive, and we’d always suggest visiting sites such as http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, as there are frequently great offers on a variety of products that can save you the pennies.”
