10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR, April Fool's Day Edition - Monday 1st April 2019

Happy April Fool's Day - the day that none of us know what we can and can't believe! I've gone through and picked out some of my favourites that I've found online today - most being food related, but some absolute gems!

Benni the drug-sniffing rabbit

Cambridge Special constabulary have today unveiled their newest recruit fresh out of 6-weeks training; Benni. Benni can sniff out drugs and you're encouraged to say hello if you see him out and about. I absolutely love it when groups you expect to be really serious end up funny and with a personality.

McDonald’s milkshake sauce pots

In 2016 McDonald's suggested that people should dip their fries in their milkshakes instead of a ketchup or BBQ dip. Believe it or not, this was NOT an April Fools. Today they continued this joke (I mean, who really dips chips in their shake?!) and have ‘launched’ new milkshake sauce pots.

Smith and Sinclair turn water into wine

It’s 2019. It’s about time someone created a way to turn water into wine. Smith and Sinclair today launched a ‘new’ product, Magic Merlot, which “turns an ordinary glass of water into fine wine” in a matter of minutes.

Heinz [Seriously] Good Cadbury Creme Eggo Mayo

Two of the UK's favourite products, mayonnaise and Cadbury's Creme Eggs, have teamed up to 'create' the concoction which, if you ask me, doesn't sound great at all, but if it were to be a real thing I actually could imagine it flying off the shelves. The mayonnaise can be found mixed with the goo from inside a Creme gg and chunks of milk chocolate . Heinz claim it's been created to celebrate Easter for the brand's 150th anniversary, but we all know the truth.

Yorkshire Tea Spreadable

For those of you who love a good cup of tea (or 10) a day, ever considered having tea on toast? We're not talking about splashing a cuppa over your toast, we're talking about the new Yorkshire Tea Spreadable. Yep, we're revolted and intrigued all at the same time.

Strongbow Dark Fruits 'Fruit Noir' fragrance

It's getting to that point of the year where the sun is coming out and we all look longingly out of the window wishing we were sat in a beer garden having a fruity cider. For those of us too busy to get there, we can have the next best thing; a Strongbow Dark Fruits perfume - get in line though and form an orderly queue behind me.

The McDonald's McPickle

McDonald's again, but this time the brand Down Under... they've apparently launched the McPickle, which just replaces the meat with lots of pickles. And whilst this is a fantastic April Fool's, so many people are genuinely upset they can't order this. Although, if you're clever and use the machines to place your order, removing everything and adding tonnes of pickles, you can totally create one!

BBC iPlayer's 'Skip The Sex' Button

We've all been there... watching TV with our parents and a sex scene comes on. AWKWARD. Sat on a train with our headphones in watching something on our phone or iPad and a sex scene comes on just as someone looks over your shoulder. AWKWARD. BBC iPlayer claim to be launching a 'Skip The Sex' button which you can toggle as you wish ensuring you're not left red-faced by any surprise sex scenes.

The O2 becomes the O3 - as Drake said it would

Drake told us he'd turn the O2 into the O3 and today, of all days, this has happened. Whilst it's not an April Fool's (we don't think), it appears to have taken place to announce the upcoming tour Drake will be doing at the O2, we love it and it came out today - so let's shout about it.

Tinder height verification

It's so easy to lie about who you are online, and many people find they've been catfished and don't end up meeting the tall, dark and handsome man they were promised. Now, to put rest to so many men lying about their age, Tinder want men to verify their height by taking a photo of themselves next to a commercial building. If you're proven as a 'truther' you'll even get a badge for your profile!

KitKat's take a break tea

We're a nation of tea lovers, that's for sure. So it makes total sense that KitKat's next product launch would be to release their own tea bag. It even comes in three different flavours: four fingers, two fingers and chunky. What more could you possibly ask for? Other than one of their very own chocolate bars to dunk into the team. Double whammy.

Gainsburys takes over!

Doing your weekly or monthly food shop in your local supermarket can be a nightmare; there's a lot of running to and from aisles you've missed, you have to weave in and out of surrounding trolley traffic and you feel you've done a heck of a workout by the time you leave. According to Sainsburys we asked (we didn't) and they listened, and Trolley Trainers will be rolled out in stores as of tomorrow #Gainsburys. Ten resistance levels, a heart-rate monitor a water bottle holder and a calorie counter are all new features, and we bet there's going to be a rush to get one of these over the bog-standard boring trolleys.
