10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Monday 14th May 2018

Happy Monday y'all. Here's lots of food-related good PR and some more bad PR for BMW...

Good PR

ASDA’s vegan BBQ range

Vegans rejoice… with the summer weather finally gracing us with its presence and BBQs being lit around the country, you no longer have to worry about what you’re going to eat because ASDA have launched a range of vegan BBQ food – and everything costs just £1.50!

The range includes:

  • Spicy Bean Burgers
  • Butternut Squash, Sweet potato & Red Pepper Sausages
  • Sweet Potato Falafels
  • Beetroot & Spinach Burgers
  • Edamame, Asparagus & Mint Burgers
  • Mushroom & Kale Sausages

There’s also a vegan cheese available if you want to sprinkle a little on your burgers to fully get into BBQ spirit.

McDonalds nut warning

Branches of McDonalds around the country have put large signs in and around their stores highlighting that some of their buns and English breakfast muffins may, temporarily, contain nuts and peanuts.

There’s been a potential contamination and it’s not yet been noted how many franchises have been affected by this. Whilst this isn’t ideal and Maccy’s fans up and down the country are despairing because their nut allergies mean they can’t risk eating any of their favourite takeaway food for a while, the company are being praised for their large signs that can’t be missed. Especially when these signs are so often hard to find or deemed ‘hidden’ by nut allergy sufferers.

Fray Bentos to get a redesign

Keeping with today’s food theme, Fray Bentos have announced that they’re going to (finally) be redesigning their pie tins as the youth of today can’t get into them. Hoorah!

My mum used to buy these every now and then when we were kids and we all loved them. There was so much pastry and filling! I’ve gone on to buy one or two over the years, since growing up and moving into my own home, but have I ever been successfully able to get into one?! Nope. I’ve given up after a long hard fight and they’ve ended up in the bin.

I’m glad to say I’m not the only one that’s struggled with these – there are so many videos online of people struggling to get into them, forced to use hammers and all sorts.

Off the back of this, Fray Bentos have come out to say they’re working on redesigning the tin so that us pie lovers can get into them (but in the meantime we should apparently buy expensive tin

openers as the cheapy ones just aren’t up to the job).

BMW recalls over 312,000 cars

It’s only been about a year since BMW had to recall 36,410 petrol cars due to safety issues and now it’s been announced that the brand is having to recall as many as 312,000 cars (both petrol and diesel) as there are potentially lethal issues with the connection between the battery and the fusebox.

The cars affected are the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 3 Series, the BMW Z4 and the BMW X1 made between March 2007 and August 2011. The fault could see the car cut out at any point, leaving drivers in potentially dangerous situations.

BMW are in the process of sending out letters to all affected customers, but this can take up to three weeks. It’s advised that if you think you have one of these cars, you contact the dealership where you purchased the car or call BMW direct on 0800 083 4397.
