10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR – Monday 15th June 2020

Happy Monday PR fans. I’ve got the good fortune of writing up today’s good and bad PR – and I’ve had a lot of fun searching around for news to cover today.. so let’s dive right in.

Cheltenham Town have filled the paddock

With sports matches starting up again, but behind closed doors and with no staff other than those absolutely necessary, I loved the campaign that’s just completed with Cheltenham Town. They wanted to ‘Fill The Paddock’ and have created a CrowdFunder for fans to pay for and submit images of themselves that will be printed out and placed into the stands – all to give the impression that the stands are full and to give players a crowd, albeit an artificial one.

They partnered with Typecraft and Signcraft to create the artificial 500-strong army of supporters, and had many price-point packages on offer, such as:

  • £25 for your face in the Paddock, Away End, The Colin Farmer Stand and more
  • £90 would get you a family of faces (two adults and two children)
  • £100 - £300 would get you a business in the crows
  • £995 would allow you to be the official headline match sponsor

10% of all donations go to the club’s charity partner, one that’s very close to my heart: The Hollie Gazzard Trust.

All in all, they raised £31,417 over 15 days from 855 supporters! That’s just phenomenal!!

KFC have got bantz

We all know that KFC is the ultimate troll and the team behind their social media and marketing have banter that many of us can only dream of. So it’s no surprise that they’ve done it again…

With the latest launch of the PS5, they’ve themselves launched a KFConsole that is able to run true 4K games at 120fps (whatever that means), has cross-platform capabilities and.. the mother of all inclusions.. has a chicken chamber for you to cook your own chicken.

Yep, it’s a PR stunt. But it’s a darned good one.

I didn’t even know that they had KFC Gaming Twitter account.. but that’s a thing apparently.

Either way, I doth my hat KFC.

Dominos ups its vegan game!

As of today you can officially get your hands ontwo new vegan pizzas through Dominos – an area of dietary requirements that Dominos have up until now lagged behind the competition with.

The two new flavours of pizza are vegan Margherita and vegan Vegi Supreme, which features a fantastic rainbow of vegetables ontop.

Apparently they trialled the new pizzas last year but didn’t get the feedback they had hoped for, but now – after trialling vegan dough and cheese – they’re happy with their vegan offering.

The two new pizzas aren’t currently available in ALL Dominos, having been rolled out into 46 stores today, but it shouldn’t be long until this is rolled out to all stores.
