10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Monday 16th December 2019

Hi one and all, I hope you’re all looking forward to Christmas next week – I’m still frankly in shock at how fast this year has gone. Anyway, let’s crack on with this week’s good and bad PR. I hope you enjoy reading through my choices.

Good PR

Reebok have announced their first plant-based performance shoe.; it isn’t their first delve into plants, having previously released a shoe in their Cotton + Corn lifestyle collection, however the ‘Forever Floatride GROW’ is going to be their very first performance trainer.

The sleekly designed trainer will be created using sustainably-sourced algae, castor beans, natural rubber and eucalyptus. It’s taken three long years to get to this point but I am definitely loving how many brands are becoming increasingly eco-conscious.

My second pick of the week goes to Aldi for an excellent job stunt. They are on the hunt for kids to test out their toys this Christmas – with the lucky candidates able to test out new toys, including science kits, ride-on cars and magic tricks, and those chosen will even get paid in a year’s worth of toys.

Aldi is asking for kids interested to send in a 30-second video reviewing their favourite toy. An awesome idea and the stunt has already received on The Sun, Metro and a bunch of regionals.

Three choices for good PR today! My third pick goes to the amazing charity, Gift of a Wedding, who is getting press for their amazing service which takes people’s old, unwanted jewellery and turns it into wedding rings for people with terminal or life-shortening illnesses.

They will take any old jewellery, whether it’s made from gold, silver or platinum and they’ll take broken bracelets, snapped necklaces and even beat-up earrings.

Those who do have something to donate for the amazing cause can message through Gift of a Wedding’s Facebook page or email them on enquiries@giftofawedding.org All items are then collected and melted down to create memorable rings for the couple in question.

Bad PR

Bad PR goes to Serie A for a completely misguided and offensive choice wherein they used images of monkeys in an anti-racism campaign. They pledged to combat racism less than three weeks ago due to Italian football’s ‘serious problem’.

Their ‘No To Racism’ posters depict three monkeys with their faces painted.

James Horncastle, European football expert commented on the completely inappropriate images:

"Question for the league is how they can't see what a loaded and misguided collaboration this is for an anti-racism initiative,"

"If you wondered why a select group of Serie A clubs are taking anti-racism into their own hands, faith in the league is sub-zero."
