10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Monday 20th July 2020

Happy Monday. Here's a little good and bad PR (*shock* I know, it's been a while since I've touched bad PR) for you to get your teeth into this Monday evening.

Deliveroo celebrates World Ice Cream Day

So apparently yesterday was World Ice Cream Day (no one told me!) and to mark the occasion Deliveroo was giving away two free Häagen-Dazs ice cream tubs (95ml) for every order that was made within their Deliveroo Editions sites.

Sadly that doesn’t include Gloucester, but people in London, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham would’ve had a nice surprise when opening their deliveries yesterday. Especially if they didn’t know it was World Ice Cream Day too.

Although, considering we have the 10 Yetis Days of the Year Calendar, I should probably give myself a slap on the back of the hand for not knowing. And yes, you can download the calendar for free.

Morrisons helps the hungry

We’ve all had a lot to adjust and adapt to over the past few months, and while many of us have been fortunate enough to continue working and having a regular income, this hasn’t been the case for everyone.

In light of this, and in a bid to help those in need, Morrisons are now selling ‘Pick Up Packs’ that cost between £1 and £3. Each food parcel contains a mixture of goodies that have been requested by local food banks in the area, including rice and pasta.

All you’ve got to do is tell the person serving you at the checkout that you’d like to pay for and donate a food parcel and they’ll do the rest, which just means it’ll be collected by volunteers from the local food banks.

This is an absolutely fantastic initiative and one that I’d love to see all supermarkets getting onboard with. Simply asking people to buy food items and leave them in a donation trolley isn’t as simple as it sounds as some of us don’t know what to buy – at least this way we can pay for and donate items that are in need.

Converse charges extra for the dirt

They’re not dishing the dirt, I don’t mean the fun kind. No, they’re selling BRAND NEW pairs of Converse that have had a “dirty wash treatment” and, if that isn’t weird and infuriating enough, they’re charging an extra £18 per pair (compared to their regular, white and shiny pairs).

They say it takes away the need to “break in” the shoes, but they’re still brand new shoes that need breaking in, they just look like they’ve been in the attic for the past 30 years and have never seen a washing machine in that time. Also when people say they want them to look worn, THIS quite frankly is too much!
