10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Monday 21st March 2019

Hi everyone, it’s Harriet here ready to deliver a rather late good and bad PR. Better late than never eh?

Good PR

One of my absolute favourite PR stunts cropped up earlier this week, involving two of the best pastimes; cheese and music.

Swiss cheese-maker, Beat Wampfler, teamed up with researchers from the Bern University of Arts to uncover whether music affected the taste of their cheeses.

During their studies, they uncovered that hip-hop music gives cheese the funkiest flavour and those that rocked out to Led Zepplin had a milder flavour. Did I mention how much I love this PR stunt?

The study itself was conducted by placing nine 22 pound wheels of cheese (they chose the absolute classic, Emmental) in individual crates and, over the next six months, each cheese was played one song on a 24-hour loop.

Songs chosen for the experiment included Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven, Vril’s ‘UV’ and A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Jazz (We’ve Got)’.

One cheese was deprived of any songs at all as it was given the important job of control fromage.

After a blind taste test, the hip-hop cheese, which was enjoying A Tribe Called Quest for six months, came out on top for flavour. Well done hip-hop, you create a flavourful cheese.

...I might actually try this at home.

Bad PR

There has been a myriad of stories recently about just how insanely different sizing is from retailer to retailer, especially when it comes to women’s clothing.

Well, Pretty Little Thing are the next online market to come under scrutiny for just how ridiculous their sizing dimensions are.

Julia Magowan, aged 21, ordered an £18 Black Mesh Ruched dress in size 8, her usual size. However when it arrived, to her horror, it didn’t even go over her thighs. The dress barely fit onto one of her legs (see below for proof)

Clothes shopping is incredibly difficult and can be a truly distressing for people with body confidence issues. Retailers REALLY need to get their act together and make uniform sizes across the board.
