10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Monday 27th July 2020

Hello you lovely lot, look who’s back again to give you the lowdown of the good and of course, the bad goings on within the PR world. Let’s get straight into it…

Good PR

We all love a bit of Rhi Rhi right? Well, you’re about to love her even more as the new skincare range she is launching is set to be gender neutral – perfect for both men and women.

Due to launch in a matter of days (31st July), Rhianna has spent the past few years perfecting her skincare range to ensure that the formulas not only work well with make up but is good to our planet too! It has been labelled as ‘new culture of skincare’, lets hope other skincare brands follow suit and make their lines accessible for both men and women in the near future too.

I’m sure you have all heard about the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme that the government is putting in place from August where UK diners can get 50% discount at selected restaurants in a bid to build the economy back up and get people spending. Well, as of next month, Costa is taking part too by selling their coffee’s for as little as 32p. The offer will only be available on Monday’s, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August though, so make sure you’re checking your calendar before heading to one near you!

Last bit of good PR for the day and it comes from supermarket Morrisons who have launched a Yorkshire Food Box to celebrate Yorkshire Day which is on August 1st. Morrisons have become famous for their food boxes lately so there is no surprise they have one filled with Yorkshire goodies to celebrate this day. The box includes some of the finest products sourced from local food and drink producers including Yorkshire Tea, Grandma Wild’s Biscuits and Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese. Orders can be placed from tomorrow and the box is priced at £25 if you fancy getting one for yourself.

Bad PR

Now moving on to some bad PR, Marmite are facing some criticism recently after bringing out a Marmite houmous that contains milk! Now for all those vegans out there who love a bit of Marmite, know that it doesn’t contain milk, and neither does houmous normally. So, you can imagine there are a lot of vegans out there who have been left unhappy about the news that two vegan products have been joined together and made non-vegan… Doesn’t really make sense does it, sort it out Marmite!!

So the 24th July saw the introduction of facemasks having to been made compulsory to wear in and around supermarkets, but big name brands such as Sainsburys and Asda have announced that they will not be enforcing the wearing of face coverings or penalising customers who don’t wear them. There has been a lot of backlash from this and many people taking to twitter to voice their outrage over the news. I see from both sides however; can this really be fully policed across the country? It is down to everyone to be doing their bit to stop the spread and save lives and not down to supermarket staff to be telling people to wear masks when everyone knows they now should.

Just before I sign off, lets talk about the rapper Wiley. He has been dropped by his management company and temporarily banned from Twitter after a series of tweets surrounding anti-Semitism There has been a lot of talk around racism recently, what with the Black Lives Matter movement, and it seems people are free to announce their hatred across their social media platforms, making them a very dark and not so nice place to be like it once was. Despite facing the consequences, I don’t think Wiley will have learnt his lesson any time soon as its not the first time he has been blocked from Twitter.
