10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Monday 9th March 2020

Hi guys! Sam here, bringing you this week's good and bad PR... enjoy!

Good PR

Ever sat there and wondered where the flowers are that you'd quite like other people to buy for you? It might be to cheer you up when you're having a bad week, it might be to congratulate you on a promotion, or it might just be because it's your birthday.

Well now you need wonder no more as Interflora have created a range of self-partnered bouquets for singletons (or those of us who'd like to receive a 'surprise' bunch of flowers, that are designed for people to purchase for themselves.

On the company's website you simply have to answer a few questions about yourself, such as -

- What word best describes you? Sassy / Daring / Independent / Wise / Charming

- Which of these looks like your perfect day off? Watch back-to-back Netflix / Baking / Hanging with your fur-baby / Getting outside / Cocktails with the girls

- Which drink most appeals to you? A glass of red wine / Vodka cocktails / Fresh orange juice / Beer / Champagne

From answering the questions to my preferences, I have been named 'The Fierce Independent', with my bouquet symbolising 'quality of life as well as gratitude'. From the results page, you can either take the quiz again or treat yourself... for anyone wanting to treat me (I recently got promoted to Senior PR Account Manager), the bunch that was selected for me is also called 'The Fierce Independent' and is only £57 ;)

Bad PR

Amazon have hit the news due to a very poorly judged t shirt on sale. Available to purchase through Amazon, one or two private sellers were selling t shirts with a big picture of big foot and the words "Let's make Down Syndrome extinct!"

Down syndrome children/people are beautiful and can lead a great life - so for anyone to still have these views in this day and age is unthinkable!

Caroline and Rachel are two mothers with Down Syndrome who highlighted the product for sale to Amazon themselves and the product was swiftly removed, however it was then found on sale via another private seller on the site - it has since been taken down, but I'm not sure if that's due to complaints or the press coverage that the t shirt has received.

I know it's hard to monitor everything put up for sale, but there has to be some sort of process in place to prevent this type of upset and hate crime - while Amazon have done the right thing and removed the product, in my eyes it should never have been available to purchase through them in the first place.

I will congratulate them on one thing though.. I've just been on their site to find the t shirt in question and, as a nice touch, when you search the phrase plastered on the t shirt, all you get now is a black t shirt with symbols that celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
