10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Tuesday 29th August 2017

Hi guys, it's Harriet here and I'm ready to give you a cheeky dose of good and bad PR. I hope you enjoy mine and Leanne's post bank holiday round-up! :)

Good PR

Walmart and Google are teaming up to facilitate the takeover of technology, this time when it comes to your grocery shopping experience. Very soon, you'll be voice-shopping using a virtual assistant, an experience which Walmart claims doesn't exist anywhere else when it comes to grocery shopping. They say that they are motivated not by profit, but by improving the experience for the customer and falling in line with their high tech expectations.

This is such a cool foray into bringing the boring weekly shop forward, and it's great PR for Walmart to show that they are miles ahead of their competitors in a very tight market.

This is one of the best stunts we've seen in a while, and definitely deserves its place in our Good PR hall of fame. A German supermarket, Edeka, has removed all the foreign foods from its shelves in Hamburg, in order to demonstrate that we all rely on diversity. This lovely stunt is not only relevant to their industry and topical to current world affairs, and has worldwide appeal - hitting headlines as far as here in the UK.

The Royal Mail is also updating their tech, by introducing nine electric vans over a range of 100 miles made by the Oxfordshire car marker, Arrival. They have ordered another huge batch of 100 vans from Peugeot, to expand their fleet and voyage into eco transport. This is great news for electric car makers and UK roads in general, with other courriers expected to soon follow suit.

Bad PR

Tesco has found itself in the midst of a scandal after the supermarket unintentionally infected customers with a strain of hepatitis through their own-brand sausages and ham.

Public Health England looking into the habits of 60 shoppers who were infected with Hepatitis E and found that all of them were linked to sausages and ham from the supermarket giant.

Naomi Campbell has been throwing hella shade at Vogue today, in a way that only one of the world's most successful supermodels can get away with. Making actually a pretty valid point, she has called them out for the lack of diversity among their staff, using their own all-white Instagram snap as proof of the pudding. Naomi Campbell is a hugely influential figure and commands a lot of respect in the industry, quite possible enough to warrant the powerhouse that is Vogue to have to reconsider their recruitment.
