10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Tuesday 3rd March 2020

Ello, it me. Back again to bring you the latest in this week’s good and bad PR. I won’t ramble on, so let’s get into it.

Good PR

So, if you haven’t heard already, which I’m sure you already have, as if you haven’t, then it’s probably because you have been living under rock or self-isolating. Coronavirus is slowly but surely making its way across the world so some brands are jumping on board to help stop the spread of the virus. Cosmetic store, Lush are one of them as they are offering the public and any passers-by of their store to wash their hands and use their soap free of charge and are not even obliged to buy anything.

Imagine having a drinks refill station for gin. Well, now your dreams have come true as Gower Gin company have teamed up to Cheers Wine Merchants to create a refill station as an alternative to purchasing alcohol in a bid to help the environment. Shoppers can simply refill their empty gin bottles with a gin of their choice from Gower Gin. What a gin-ius way to reduce waste!

Bad PR

Moving on from the good to the bad. Chocolate bar brand, Snickers have faced backlash today after their social media team thought it would be a good idea to tweet a thread of names where Twitter users had to guess whether the word was a place in Wales or someone sat on a keyboard. Obviously, this didn’t go down too well with their Welsh fanbase who claimed to never buy a Snicker again and for whoever came up with the idea to be sacked. The tweet was quickly deleted and then an apology was later published at 2pm. Not a great move from the team over at Snickers, hopefully they haven’t lost too many of the Welsh Snickers lovers!

So, banks are apparently funding the use of fossil fuels with Barclays bank in particular being the worst in Europe. Greenpeace campaigners decided to make a stand and installed pop-up exhibitions in bank entrances to highlight how Barclays funds fossil fuel companies. In total, they managed to shut down over 95 stores across the UK. Bad news for Barclays, good news for Greenpeace!
