10 Yetis Examples of Good and Bad PR - Wednesday 27th March 2019

Happy hump day. Here's some good and bad PR for you to get your teeth into from our lovely Paige - enjoy!

Good PR

American-based telecommunications company, Verizon, have landed themselves into a bit of hot water this week as one of their workers had been given a suspension for RESCUING A CAT FROM A UTILITY POLE because no-one else was responding to help. He should have received a medal and not a suspension, surely?!

Anyway, the poor guy named Maurice German rescued a cat called Princess Momma after she had been stuck on the pole for 12 hours! Maurice has now been left suspended, 3 weeks without pay and it’s caused Twitter uproar, even making a few Americans switch to the company’s competitors, AT&T .

More Good PR

With all of the news around brands doing their thing to save the planet, banning plastic straws, charging for plastic bags, etc. Tesco have decided to take it one step further by trialling a ban of the plastic that fruit and veg comes in. 45 products which include onions, mushrooms, avocados and peppers are the first to be trialled. Even though this is only happening in two stores to start off with, it will be a great opportunity for other supermarkets to piggy back onto, after all Tesco do have a plan to get rid of hard-to-recycle plastic packaging by 2019 and make all packaging fully recyclable by 2025.

Bad (yet funny) PR

Not great for BA or the passengers onboard, but this is included because I thought it was hilarious. On Monday a BA flight took off from London City Airport and was meant to fly to Dusseldorf, Germany. The aircraft actually had the wrong documents which meant to plane flew to Edinburgh instead, leaving passengers confused AF.

Irish based airline Ryanair then tweeted British Airways a picture of the book ‘Geography for Dummies’, however Ryanair then received backlash from the Twittersphere, with many replying referencing the book ‘Customer Service for Dummies’. If you haven’t seen it already then do take a mooch, I probably laughed more than I should, but then again my mind is very simple.
