We have very little communication with regional titles because all our clients, quite rightly, demand national or their trade coverage.
I should state for the record that I love all regionals and feel that many PR's undervalue the importance they have as the nationals, with their shrinking budgets, rely on regionals more now than ever before to find good stories.
Anywho, I was talking to a PR contact from another local agency the other day who was telling me that the good people of Cheltenham are slightly worried by the fact an ex News of The World sub editor has now joined their regal local newspaper, The Gloucestershire Echo as the News Editor.
News of the World Stunner - Sub Moved to Cheltenham
Apparently there is some fear that the paper will now be filled with stories about randy vicars and prostitutes and this will not fit with the famous Spa town's image.
I am told by the person in the know that senior town dignatories are puzzled as to what to do in terms of who they need to talk to... this no doubt means that they Echo's publisher will get a suddent influx of lunch invites so a word can be planted in his ear. :-)
Who would work in the media hey... poor souls.
