Banksy, Guerilla Art

For those of you that haven't heard of Banksy, he is a graffiti artist known for producing controversial works of art that often gain him coverage in media across the world.

His latest stunt has been to switch Paris Hitons album in music stores across the UK with his own defaced version and replacing the CD inside with his own remixes of her work.

He claims to have doctored 500 copies of her debut album in 48 record shops across the UK. He claims to have left the barcode in so that people would buy the album not realising it wasn't the real version.

Now, I'm not sure how true this is since HMV say they only recovered 7 copies and had no other returns, and Virgin also said they couldn't find any.

However, regardless of the amount, he has achieved coverage on the BBC website as well as news sites all across the internet so I guess you could say that he has succeded.

Personally I think this is a great bit of guerilla art, what do you think?

Here's a link to the stunt which was recorded and put on YouTube:
