Measuring results

One of the bugbears of PR activity is that is it notoriously difficult to measure. Clients want to see a clear return-on-investment, which can be difficult with some more traditional campaigns and approaches. However, PR for SEO is much easier to measure and we have a number of ways of doing so. Using a combination of SEO tools, such as Moz, Google Analytics, Search Metrics, Ahrefs and SEMrush, we are able to analyse the impact of our PR for SEO campaigns, to monitor such metrics as traffic, bounce rate, domain authority, follow/no follow links, which content is attracting the most links and lost links (where a media outlet may have removed a link that was initially given). We offer clients in-depth reports on a weekly and monthly basis, as well as detailing top-line SEO results on an as-it-happens basis.

Case Study

The brand: Catena media operates in the online gaming and financial services sectors and has over 5m monthly users.

The situation

One of Catena Media’s betting websites, FootballTips.com was operating in a hugely competitive sector and could not break onto page one of Google for its vital core term “football tips”. The company asked 10 Yetis to create an online public relations strategy that would help with their overall search engine optimisation campaign.

The Campaign

10 Yetis devised a multi-level online PR campaign plan that included day to day news-jacking, a pro-active series of release around engaging and quirky sports betting content and also a series of rich media ideas such as videos and online widgets.

We needed to take into account that the national, and larger online media had their own sports betting affiliate partnerships with other gambling and financial services companies. This meant that they were less likely to use media stories that would promote their rivals.

With the above in mind, we had to create media stories that were more consumer and lifestyle related rather than just focused on the sports press.

The results

We took the ranking for the term “football tips” from page five of Google to Page One, position 4, within 6 months of starting this campaign. We achieved Follow Links from every target demographic media outlet including The Sun, The Mirror, LadBible, Huffington Post, Daily Star and many other high authority and high-ranking media sites.

On the months where we launched Rich Content (widgets, videos etc) we achieved in excess of 80 pieces of coverage with over 50% of these including follow links.
