10 Yetis Insight Blog - Top 8 Tech Targets For Your PR Agency

Technology publications are some of the most influential media outlets around, so it’s important to target the right ones as part of your PRcampaign. Whilst we have an extensive list of technology publications that we target as part of any technology campaign, but there are some publications that we think are a priority to target as part of your campaign.

These are the top 7 publications we think a tech PR agencyshould target:

1.CNET

CNET themselves claim to be the word leaders in technology product reviews, news and more, which says it all really. If you’re promoting a technology product, you want CNET to cover it as you can almost guarantee results if they give it a good review.

Originally an American media website, they were founded in 1994 by Halsey Minor and Shelby Bonnie. They expanded further into the UK by merging CNET with CNET UK to merge all editions of the publications, as well as rebranding CNET TV as CNET Video.

Their website has 6,800,000 unique visitors each month, making it one of the most read technology websites in the world. Its reviews section generates over 4,300 product reviews every year, so competition is rife to get your product reviewed on CNET.

2.The Verge

The Verge is a technology news publication founded by Joshua Topolsky and Marty Moe in 2011, in partnership with Vox Media. They claim to be on a mission to provide breaking news and in-depth reporting of all products and industry news.

With a readership of 4,261,136, The Verge are influential players in the technology sector and are definitely an outlet you want to target. They also have some of the most influential journalists working for them, with Tom Warren, Nilay Patel and Chris Ziegler all plying their trade at The Verge.

3.Mashable

Mashable are major players in the technology game, claiming to be a leading source for news for the connected generation (just a fancy way of saying they’re a leading source of news for the tech industry, of course).

I am personally a big fan of Mashable and think they should definitely be high on any list of publications when considering technology PR. With readership of 42million every month, it’s fair to say that your product or company will get lots of exposure if they are featured on Mashable.

4.Next Web

An international news site for all things technology, the Next Web sees 6,500,000 unique visitors per month to their site. Founded in 2006, the site is relatively young compared to the giants of the industry, but is definitely influential to readers.

Their editor-in-chief, Martin Bryant, was ranked in our 42 top tech journalists and influencers, whilst the publication has amassed over 1.64million followers on Twitter. A great place to secure coverage for any technology clients.

5.Stuff (UK)

Stuff is a British magazine, aimed at men, which covers the latest products and the future of the industry. Largely a review magazine and website, Stuff (UK) regularly feature technology and lifestyle must-haves and product round-ups.

They have a readership of 3,100,000, which may seem modest compared to some of the big guns, but are definitely a must-target to reach the general consumer.

6.Tech Radar

With one of the biggest readerships on our list, Tech Radar are big players in the technology industry. Covering products from home entertainment and computing to systems and gadgets, Tech Radar are leaders in the industry in terms of breaking news and reviews.

Over 20,000,000 turn to them every month in a bid to get expert opinions on the must-have technology, so any PR agency would be foolish not to target TechRadar as part of a campaign.

7.BBC

The BBCare obviously a big deal, we all know that, and the same can be said for the technology sector. With their BBC Focus section of the website, covering science and technology, the BBC are extremely influential within the sector.

It can be notoriously difficult to get coverage on the BBC, but if you can get coverage for your clients tech product then you’re onto a winner. With 10.7 million visitors to the BBC website each month and a successful technology broadcast programme (BBC Click), they are a must-target.

8.Tech Crunch

Whilst TechCrunch’s unique visitors every month may seem miniscule compared to the others on our list, with just 250,000 visitors per month, don’t let that fool you. With 11 entries on our list of 42 big deal influencers and journalists lists from 2015.

There’s an incredible amount of influential journalists at Tech Crunch, whose opinions are trusted in the technology community.
